If you are wandering around the Newcastle Christmas Market and you catch the scent of something warm and cheesy drifting through the air, there is a good chance it is coming from Parmorama. I stopped by to try their festive loaded fries and they turned out to be one of the most indulgent Christmas treats I have had this season.
I went for the festive loaded fries which came piled high with melted cheese, creamy brie, cranberry sauce, stuffing and a full pig in a blanket sitting proudly on top. It is the kind of portion that makes you stop and stare for a moment before digging in. I even got a few looks and glances when I walked around the Christmas Market.
The mix of flavours works surprisingly well. The gooey cheese and brie bring comfort food vibes, the cranberry adds a sweet pop that cuts through the richness and the stuffing gives it a proper Christmas feel. The pig in a blanket absolutely seals the deal and makes the whole thing feel like a full festive dinner in fry form.
At £12 it is definitely a treat rather than an everyday buy but as a Christmas market experience it feels worth it. The portion is generous and it is one of those dishes that feels like part of the fun of the season. If you enjoy bold flavours and you are in the mood for something comforting on a cold night, Parmorama’s festive loaded fries are a solid choice.
Overall it is indulgent, memorable and very on theme for Christmas. I would happily order it again on my next visit to the market.
You can also buy Parmorama’s food directly from their official website where you can browse their full menu and order for collection or delivery when you’re not at the Christmas Market. Parmorama started out celebrating the classic Teesside parmo and has grown into a go to spot for hearty comfort food with loads of creative twists on flavours. They pride themselves on using quality ingredients and putting their own spin on dishes that appeal to both traditional and adventurous eaters, and you can check out their menu and order online if you want to try their parmos, burgers, loaded fries or sides at home.
If you are visiting the Newcastle Christmas Market, make sure you stop by Parmorama and give their festive fries a go.
Would you pay £12 for festive loaded fries or is it too much for you?
