30 Days of Positive Change: A Simple April Reset

There’s something about April that just feels like a reset. The days are a bit brighter, everything starts to feel lighter, and you get that little urge to sort your life out… without going full “new year, new me” and burning out after three days. Let’s also not forget the cheap chocolate once Easter is over!

That’s why I love the idea of small daily changes instead. Nothing extreme, nothing overwhelming just simple things you can do each day to feel a bit better in yourself and your space.

This is your gentle April reset.

Starting with your space

The easiest place to start is your environment. When your space feels better, you feel better. I know that works for me.

Go through your phone and pick out some photos from last year that actually make you smile and print them. It’s such a small thing but it makes your space feel more you. I love using apps such as Free Prints for this!

Sit down and make a realistic spring cleaning plan too, don’t just think about April, include May so you’re not rushing it all at once.

One of my favourite ideas is putting together a little “bad day” care package. Things like snacks, cosy bits, maybe a face mask just something you can grab when you’re not feeling your best. It’s honestly a lifesaver for me.

And if you can, bring a bit of life into your home with an indoor plant. It sounds basic af, but it really does change the vibe.

Changing up your routine

Once your space feels a bit calmer, it’s time to gently switch up your routine.

Make a playlist that instantly lifts your mood. The kind you put on when you need a reset day. Lately I’ve been loving 50’s jazz. Think Nat Ling Cole and The Cordettes.

Give yourself one evening with no screens. No scrolling, no background noise just a bit of quiet. It feels weird at first, but in a good way. I’m all about this life and I love picking up a book or a Diamond Art.

Reach out to someone you care about too. Just a quick check in can mean more than you think.

You can also change your environment in simple ways, like switching to warmer lighting in your living room or even just swapping out cushion covers for something brighter.

If you’re feeling up to it, try something slightly outside your usual routine like going to a meetup or rearranging a room for the day. Sometimes a small change is all you need to feel refreshed.

Taking care of yourself (properly)

Around the middle of the month is where you want to slow things down a bit and focus on yourself.

Start small, like doing a few one minute stretches before bed. It doesn’t sound like much, but it adds up. I like to stretch out my lower back!

Make time for the people in your life too, whether that’s a video call with family or actually making plans with friends instead of saying “we should meet soon” and never doing it. I am very guilty of doing this but I also like to recharge my social battery.

Take a moment to write down three things you’re proud of as well. Not big achievements, just real things. It’s so easy to forget how far you’ve come. Whether it’s in a journal or in your notes app, get it down.

And don’t skip proper self-care. Not just face masks and baths, but things that actually make you feel good, rested, or more like yourself.

Letting go and moving forward

Towards the end of the month, it’s a good time to reset mentally.

Go through your clothes and donate the things you don’t wear anymore. It clears space physically and mentally.

Try something new, even if it’s small. A new hobby, a different workout class, anything that breaks routine.

If you can, spend a bit of time volunteering or doing something for someone else.

There are also some practical things that just feel good to get done, like backing up your photos and files. Future you will be grateful and makes space in your phone for more memories.

Then take a bit of time to reflect. Read about something that genuinely interests you, write down something you’re ready to let go of, and think about one big goal you want to focus on for the rest of the year.

Ending the month gently

You don’t need to end the month with pressure. Keep it soft.

Maybe try a new workout class if you feel like moving your body, or just create a cosy little corner at home where you can sit, read, and switch off.

Final thoughts

This isn’t about doing everything perfectly. You don’t have to complete all 30 days for it to “count”.

It’s just about building a bit of momentum and reminding yourself that small actions do make a difference.

Some days you’ll feel motivated, other days you won’t. That’s perfectly normal.

If anything, let April be the month where you stop waiting to feel ready and just start!
