Every year me and my friends host a little friend-mas, usually we exchange gifts, hang out watch Christmas films, do our nails and have some yummy food. But this year we learned about a pop up Christmas cocktail bar in Newcastle and had to book. The 3rd was the only date everyone was available. So let the festivities begin early!
Available between 17th November to the 23rd of December (although as of now it looks fully booked up), located at The Blonde Barrel/ Rusty's in Newcastle. This pop up bar has festive decor inspired by the 90's. You know what I mean, ceiling tinsel and hanging stars for days. It's £10 to book but you get that back with a cocktail. You get 1 hour and 45 mins to down some Christmas themed cocktails and nibbles.
As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the sounds of Christmas music. As we got to our table we had festive crackers to pull and Home Alone was playing on the TV in our little booth area. There was a fireplace and tree but they were on the opposite side to us. Each table was decorated with a cute Christmas table cloth, crackers and decor. We ordered our first round of cocktails. I opted for a winter spiced porn star martini which was lovely. My second cocktail of the night was an "elfing around" which could only be described as a drink for the sophisticated business man who likes strong tasting whiskey and coke with cinnamon and anise. I still downed it. Other drinks included baileys hot chocolates and a die hard inspired cocktail served in a mug.
The food was small starters and were quite lovely. There were £6 each or £15 for 3 dishes. We opted for the Mini Yorkshire Puddings, Pigs in Blanket with Maple Syrup and a Vegan Sausage Roll with apple sauce and all of them were delicious. Our friends got a plate of festive nachos as well as pig in blankets.
I had brought along with me some gift bags full of choccys and little xmas items as well as some non xmas gifts. We wore our festive headbands and I even had some photo props with me so we could take silly photos.
The vibes were on point and everyone was feeling very festive.We even asked if we could get more crackers to pull before we left. After we had our fun, off we popped to grab some food and see if the market was still open (it wasn't) I had such a lovely time and would recommend doing adult friendmas to anyone.
